Roar Berg (born in 1969) took his master degree in singing at the University in Stavanger, Norway, in 1994, studying with Viggo Pettersen and Marit Storækre. In 2001 he took a postgraduate degree in church music ministry at the practical-theological faculty in Tromsø. In recent years, Roar has studied singing with Harald and Svein Bjørkøy, Njål Sparbo, Tor Hommeren and Ingrid Bjoner. In 1994 he participated in a masterclass with the German tenor Peter Schreier, studying lieder and oratorio. He has also studied interpretation of large-scale church music works with Terje Kvam, cantor of Oslo Cathedral.

Berg has performed as vocal solist at concerts in Norway, Austria, Sweden and Germany. In Norway he has given concerts together with some of the country's leading organists and pianists. In October 2001 he had his debut as tenor soloist at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim and since then has performed regularly in Norway to great critical and public acclaim.

Berg had his opera-debut as Monostatos in W.A.Mozarts "Magic flute" in Trondheim may-05. Earlier stageperformances have included work for Rogaland Theatre in 1990 and 1993, opera performances at Rogaland Conservatoire (1990-94), as well as regular church and stage performances elsewhere since 1990.
